Raj’s story began in the small town of Rourkela in Odisha, India. Born into a loving family, he stayed in his hometown until he finished school. When he turned 18, he left home for the first time to study hotel management at Fakir Mohan University in the nearby town of Balasore, Odisha.

Destined for bigger things, Raj landed a job at the prestigious Taj Hotel in Mumbai. With stars in his eyes and a determination to keep up, he landed in the commercial capital of India. Starting out as an apprentice, he grew into a seasoned hospitality professional over two decades. During his tenure, he has worked with the biggest brands including Royal Orchid, ISTA, Cambay and others and has proven expertise in hotel operations, sales and marketing, and data and marketing analytics.

At the same time he rediscovered his passion for computer technology. He remembers: “Being enthusiastic about hotels and computers, I was only able to do an apprenticeship in one. But my interest in computers never died out. All hotels use software for their daily operations. Whenever new software came out, I was the one most excited to see how it would work.”

Innovative and purposeful, Raj had realized he was better suited to entrepreneurship than services. “Ever since I was a kid, I knew I wanted to be my boss,” he says with a smile.

The thought of starting his venture consumed Raj’s days and nights. He started actively looking for an idea or a solution in his field that appealed to him. That’s how he came to sysotel.ai along with friends and co-founders Ravish Patel and Kiran Suthar. “After 20+ years in the hospitality industry, we’ve focused on a common problem – no automated yield management software. That was our eureka moment!” he says proudly.

Raj began to dabble in yield management manually. But the pandemic gave him the time and opportunity to work on and strengthen his brand. In 2021, he officially registered sysotel.ai, a SaaS company offering end-to-end hospitality solutions. About his USP, Raj says: “Sysotel is an automated yield management system that is specially designed for medium to small hotels. Such a system on the open market is very expensive. Only the luxury segment hotels use it, and even theirs are often manual. The solution we built is highly automated. It integrates artificial intelligence and machine learning without weighing your pocket. Therefore, it is a sophisticated yet cost-effective solution.”

Sysotel.ai could well be the breakthrough platform that the hospitality industry needs. One of his modular motors is on the market in the first year and works wonders. With a tech office in Bangalore, they have also worked with big brands and reputable companies. For example, sysotel.ai recently became an official partner of Google Hotels by boosting visibility and website traffic for partner hotels for free.

Prior to Sysotel, Raj also co-founded Rev Matrix, GoXplore and stayplans.com. A self-confessed workaholic, Raj says he relaxes by coming up with something new: “Whenever something comes to my mind, I write it down, explore how it can help the company grow and figure out how as it can be a learning field for me team. The bottom line is always the customer experience and how we can facilitate it. That excites me a lot.” To learn more about Raj, visit www.passionvista.com or sign up via email, [email protected]
