Whitmer is set to travel to Europe to promote economic investment and development

Lansing, Mich. (WNDU) – On Wednesday, Gov. Gretchen Widmer announced she will participate in a five-day mission to Norway and Switzerland focused on bringing jobs and business investment back to Michigan.

While in Norway, Governor Widmer will meet with government and business leaders in Oslo, focusing on the mobility and hydrogen industries.

“The world is increasingly interconnected and it’s important for leaders in other countries to hear that Michigan plays an important role on the world stage, especially as we work to lead the future movement, bring supply chains home, and transition to energy independence with clean, domestic supply,” said Governor Whitmer in a statement. said in the press release. We’re building something that everyone in Michigan wants to be a part of, and I’ll go anywhere and compete with everyone to bring jobs and investment home. Let’s show the world what we have to offer, build on our leadership in cars, chips and clean energy, and prove that the world’s best manufacturing happens in Michigan.

After Norway, Gov. Whitmer will attend the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting and speak on a panel titled “The Return of Manufacturing.”

The trip will be the first to Norway for a Michigan governor in history and the first since a visit to Switzerland in 2016.
