The first team at Bayern Munich will begin training next week for the first time since mid-November. Some players trained in early December while others played in the World Cup. Julian Nagelsmann will train at Subner Strasse next week before heading to Doha for a winter camp.
The reigning German champions will also be in the squad for the winter camp, with Daiot Upamecano. According to the build (via iMiaSanMia), Upamegano has decided against taking a long vacation. He will resume training with his teammates next week as part of winter camp.
Bild also reported that Nagelsmann gave Upamecano a long rest because he played more minutes than Bayern at the World Cup. However, Upamecano is keen to build momentum for Rukrunde by taking part in the winter camp.
Dayot Upamecano was one of the best defenders at the 2022 World Cup. Apart from the semi-final match against Croatia and the group-stage match against Tunisia, Upamecano started every game for France at the World Cup. He missed the game against Croatia due to illness, while Didier Deschamps rested him against Tunisia as France advanced to the round of 16.
Upamecano performed well in the bowling of the French team. He formed a very solid centre-back partnership with Raphael Varane, which provided a great platform for the midfielders and forwards to shine on the pitch. Upamecano was unlucky not to win the trophy as France were defeated by Argentina in the final.
Bayern and Nagelsmann will be pleased with Upamecano’s commitment to getting into rhythm before the start of the season. With De Rotten in contention for all three trophies (Bundesliga title, Champions League and DFB Pokal), the French defender will have a big role to play in the Ruckrunde.
With Lucas Hernandez ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury, Diaote Upamecano will start most of the games for Bayern in the Ruckrunde. The former RB Leipzig defender will play most games alongside Matthijs de Ligt in the center of defence. The two players formed a solid partnership in a short span of time before the players left for the World Cup in November.
